OSAKA WORLD EXPO 2025

Seven Spirits was selected for the Signature Pavilions at Osaka World Expo 2025. Blending Japanese tradition and transhumanist futurism, Seven Spirits imagines a Shining Hat infused with the energy of the Seven Lucky Gods (七福神 / Shichi Fukujin), reborn for a new age. Through this myth-tech narrative, Susan explores how society merges with technology and environment as biological evolution gives way to a silicon-based existence.

Thrilled to be part of the dream team once again, Susan Kosti was contributing to a projection mapping featuring a 360-degree stage design by Es Devlin and visual content by Luke Halls. Susan worked on the progress scene in which technology and humanity come together smoothly, representing a future where they coexist and shape our path together.

Seven Spirits unfolds in the imagined land of Miyaku Miyaku, where ancient archetypes are recompiled into a future shaped by imagination. A luminous “Shining Hat” becomes a vessel of stories and blessings carrying the resonance of the Seven Lucky Gods (七福神 / Shichi Fukujin) as if folklore could be stored, transmitted, and reactivated like code. Drawing from Japanese symbolism and transhumanist thought, Susan frames technology not as an escape from nature, but as its next mutation: a co-evolution of humans, machines, and ecology into a single living system. The work asks what we become when culture and spirit migrate into networks when the mythic and the synthetic begin to speak the same language of light.
